Manassas City Public Schools Seeks Public Input on Proposed Calendars

Manassas City Public Schools is seeking public input on the proposed 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school calendars.  In the development of the calendars, the division’s calendar committee comprised of Board members, administrators and teachers, focused on the following goals:

  • Establish a calendar that addresses the instructional needs of our students;
  • Establish a schedule of adequate professional development days that aligns with the division/school-level goals for improving the achievement of students; and
  • Develop a two-year calendar in order to provide all stakeholders the opportunity to “plan ahead” for their personal and family needs.

Note to consider when making comments:

  • School divisions are required to have at least 180 instructional days scheduled for students (or equivalent hours-990 hours) based on Virginia code (Kindergarten may have less)

The comment period for the proposed 13/14 and 14/15 school calendars has been extended through March 13th. Comments may be submitted HERE. The proposed calendars will be reviewed based on comments from the community and staff and are scheduled for approval at the March 19th School Board meeting.
