Student Privileges

Kindergarteners and 1st graders may have one book checked out at a time.  It is up to the teacher as to whether or not the student may take the book home.

As long as no items are overdue, 2nd graders may have two items and 3rd graders three items checked out at one time.  If the student has one item overdue, they may not borrow their second or third item.  The students may borrow both books and magazines, but may borrow only one magazine per visit.

4th graders may have four items checked out at one time.  If the student has an item overdue, they may, at the discretion of the librarian, borrow one additional item.  The students may borrow both books and magazines, but may borrow only one magazine per visit.

Regular library books are borrowed for a period of two weeks. Magazines are borrowed for one week.  Most books from the Reference Room may be checked out, but are due the next school day. Items may be renewed (borrowed again) as long as they are not on reserve for someone else.  Items must be brought to the library to be renewed.

There are no daily overdue fines, but students are expected to pay for items that become lost or damaged while checked out to them.  If a book is returned that was previously paid for, a reimbursement check will be mailed to the home.
