COUNSELING PROGRAM Phone 571.377.7026 The counseling program is an important part of a student's educational development. The professional school counselor's role is to assist students in achieving academically, personally, and socially. Counselors help by providing both individual and small group counseling to students and parents. They also consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other resource personnel to develop strategies for implementing various resources. Student scholastic records are maintained and are utilized to address a student's academic and personal needs. Transcripts and employment references are released to institutions with written permission from the student if 18, or by parents. The counselors and the College & Career Center have information available for students concerning career exploration, colleges and universities, scholarships, financial aid, the military, and employment. Career counseling is available to all students. A student may request an appointment with his or her counselor before and after school, during lunch, and (with teacher permission) during class periods. The Counseling Center secretary schedules these student appointments (and work permits). |

| GRADING SCALE Implemented 2009-2010 School Year
Courses taken on a pass/fail basis will not be calculated into GPA or class rank. In order to be eligible for the honor roll, students must take a minimum of six graded courses. Course taken on a pass/fail basis do not qualify as graded courses for honor roll purposes. GPA is calculated by noting the Quality Points for each course taken. Note: AP and Honors courses are weighted. Add the Quality Points and divide by the total credits attempted. The result is the GPA. | | | | |
